Viola Manning with Viola Walking Eagle (August 18, 1930). Viola Manning was a friend and benefactor of Fr. Buechel's who made several visits to the reservation. She lived in New Jersey. This photograph was reproduced in Don Doll's "Crying for a Vision".

This is a display in the Buechel Memorial Lakota Museum created by museum director Mike Marshall to commemorate the life of Fr. Buechel. The display was made in 2003.

Lakota school children examine Fr. Buechel's ethnographic collection. Fr. Buechel first displayed is collection at St. Francis in the Jesuit residence and as it grew, in a small building. Brother Hartmann built the current museum for Fr. Buechel in 1950 to commemorate Fr. Buechel's 50 years as a Jesuit.
